I am a treasurer for an association which is a company limited by garantee we registered the company in Nov 09 and have elected to extend our first years accounts to end 31/3/2011 how do I handle this solar accounts do I change the Financial start date to 1/4/10 ?

Hi Tim,

In Solar Accounts the financial year is always 12 months. In your case you will need to choose a custom period when viewing reports such as Profit and Loss (click menu Edit > Configure Report to set the report period). When you start a new financial year you can set the new start date to 1/4/2011.

I had exactly the same question - but in this situation would I set the first financial year to start in November 2009, the date the company was incorporated?

You will need to check with HMRC or your accountant for the exact start date of your first financial year.
