Solar Accounts will not start

I last used solar at the end of October, have just tried to use it today and the program will not start, I have tried reinstalling an update (I was using the current version), I have un-installed the latest windows 7 updates, restarted the pc etc. but cannot get solar to run at all, all other programs run OK. Any ideas?

Hi Martin,

Please try this:
1. Click the Windows 'Start' button (bottom left of screen)
2. Click 'All Programs'
3. Click 'Solar Accounts'
4. Right-click on the 'Solar Accounts' program menu item and select 'Run as administrator'.

Does that help? If not, can you please tell me if you are running the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Windows? For details of how to determine what version you are running see this page:

Hi Mark
Thanks for the prompt reply, especially on a Sunday.
Run as an administrator did not work and it is 64 bit.
Regards
Martin

Hi Martin,

OK, please do the following:

  1. Click the Windows 'Start' button (bottom left of screen)
    2. Click All Programs > Accessories
    3. Right-click on 'Command Prompt' and select 'Run as administrator'
    4. In the black window copy and paste the following text (including quotes and the extradebug bit):
    "%programfiles(x86)%\Solar Accounts\SolarAccounts.exe" -extradebug
(Note that you can paste into the black window by right-clicking on it)
    5. With the black window focused, press the Enter key
    6. Start a new email message and click the 'Attach file' button (usually has a paperclip icon)
    7. Copy and paste the following text into the 'File name' field:
    %programfiles(x86)%\Solar Accounts\extradebug.log
    8. Click OK (or Open) and send the email to me

Thanks

I have solar running on an old laptop for now but would like to get it running on this PC again. So no immediate rush.
Thanks
