Solar accounts seems to make a new backup file everytime I use it, and numbers them incrementally rather than overwriting the last one.
Is it safe to erase the earlier back ups ?

I recommend you copy the backup files to an 'archive' folder, just in case you need to refer to them in future.
To avoid the problem where Solar Accounts creates new backup files, rename the most recent file to remove the word 'Backup' from the file name. Then double-click on the file to open it. Then next time open the same file, not one of the backups.
