A single Solar Accounts licence allows you to install the software on up to 3 computers, as long as they are owned by the same person or organisation. Enter the same purchase code into each one.

I have a desktop PC and a mac notebook for travelling. Can I download the s/w for both machines under that same licence?

Yes, you can have any combination of Mac and PC with the one licence.
