Problems emailing

Hi,

I've just rebuilt my PC with Windows 8.1 and Office 2013. I can't seem to email from within Solar now. I've checked the default mail program and that mailto: is registered to Outlook but I still says "Failed to launch email application"

I'm running a 64 Bit version of Office. 15.0.4615.1000

Thanks in advance

Hi Neale,

Solar Accounts is not compatible with the 64-bit version of Outlook - sorry. You will need to do one of the following:
(a) Install the 32-bit version of Outlook instead;
(b) Download and install Windows Live Mail and use it for sending Solar Accounts emails (while using Outlook for normal emailing). Windows Live Mail is available for free from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-live/essentials
(c) Save the invoice to a PDF file each time and use Outlook to attach the file to a new message

Note that the 32-bit version of Office is very similar in functionality to the 64-bit version. Microsoft themselves even recommend users install the 32-bit version: http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/support/choose-the-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-office-HA102840825.aspx

Also it is not the mailto: setting that Solar Accounts requires - instead it is the 'Send Email' setting. To see it go to Control Panel > Programs > Outlook (Desktop) > Choose details for this program > Send Email (Under 'MAPI')

Regards,
