Tilde ~

I have moved my data files to Dropbox so that I can access them at home.
I note that when I close some of the files a tilde ~ appears before the name of the file.
What does this signify & could it cause a problem in future?

Hi Jack,

A tilde character (~) means that Solar Accounts was not shut down normally. Dropbox seems to do strange things to the file system which affects the behaviour of Solar Accounts when it shuts down.

If the original file is missing then the file with the tilde at the front will contain all your data. In this case simply rename the file to remove the tilde character and double-click on it to open the file.

You should also upgrade to the latest version of Solar Accounts which uses a different method to store your data and will not produce a file with a tilde character.

Regards,
