Hello, i am due to be VAT registered from the 1st July, can i set the system to account only from that date? i have looked at the add VAT number and it has no date to start calculating vat from? also somwe of the work i do is 0% rated, will that affect the vat report?

When you set up the VAT details in Solar Accounts, all the existing invoices will be marked as 'Out of Scope' (because they don't affect your VAT return). Any new invoices you create will be treated as 'Sale of Goods or Services to UK Customer' and so will affect your VAT return.
To enter a zero-rated sale, just enter "0%" as the VAT rate. The sale will affect box 6 of your VAT return but won't affect how much VAT you have to pay.
