Separating Business Accounts

Hi,

I have 2 businesses on the same account, is it possible to separate them onto separate accounts?

Thank you

Karen

Hi Karen,

Solar Accounts doesn't have a way to automatically separate a set of
accounts into two. I think the best approach would be to pick a conversion
date and create a new business file, then enter the opening balances for
that business as at the conversion date and enter new transactions into
that business file.

Please note that if you are using the online version of Solar Accounts then
we charge a separate monthly fee for each business file as described here:

Dear Mark,

Thank you for your email. Not sure if I explained properly. The account has 2 separate businesses on it and I wanted to take mine off and have it separate from the other one, is that not possible? It's just my husband keeps not paying the bill and I want access to my business accounts without paying for both of them.

Hello Karen,

Do you mean that you see two businesses listed when you log into Solar
Accounts? If so, you can remove one of the businesses from your account by
clicking on it and selecting 'Remove'

Hi Mark,
Yes that’s what I mean although I want to put my one on a separate solar account, is that possible? I don’t want to lose my data and I imagine my husband wants to keep his

Hi Karen,

OK here's what you need to do:

  1. Log in and double-click on your husband's business record to open the
    main window

  2. Click menu File > Create Backup > On This Computer

  3. Save the backup file and log out

  4. Ask your husband to create a new account (click the 'New account' link
below the password field and follow the prompts to enter personal
    information).

  5. After creating a user account, he should select 'Import from
existing file' then select the backup file you saved in step 3

  6. Your husband should log out, then you log in and select your husband's
    business record and click 'Remove'

At that point you will both have two separate login accounts which will be
billed separately.
