Issue with Opening Old Version on Mac Desktop

I have changed over from the old version to the new one, I have gone onto my old Mac desktop which has my old version and for some reason can not open it, do you have any Ideas what I can do to resolve this?

Hi Ian,

On your old Mac desktop please click the Apple icon at the left of the menu
bar, then select 'About This Mac'. What version number is shown?
