I need to import backed up data stored on memory stick to offline version of Solar Accounts. How do I do this please?
Hi Jane,
The offline version of Solar Accounts is not designed to open backup files
created with the online version. Are you looking to close your online
account and transfer your data to the offline version?
Hi Mark Unfortunately you seem to have misunderstood my email. I don't use
the online version. I had trouble with my computer and need to move the
stored data on my memory stick into a new account created by me in Solar
accounts. I have changed my company name via companies house but retain the
same accounts. Can you help please?
Hi Jane,
OK thanks, but I'm not sure I fully understand. It sounds like you created
the backup file using the old offline version, and you have now created a
new business file (again using the offline version) and you want to merge
the data from the backup file into the new business file you created. Is
that correct?
Yes that is correct, can you help?
Hi Jane,
Unfortunately Solar Account is not designed to merge two files into one.
If you only just created the newer file, the best solution would be to
rename the backup file to remove the word 'backup' from the file name, then
double-click on the file to open it in Solar Accounts, then re-enter the
data from the other file into this file.
Sorry Mark , this all sounds overly complicated. My company has only
changed it's name, the accounts haven't changed. I created a new company
name and wish to transfer the existing accounts which are on a memory stick
into the newly created Solar account
Hi Jane,
OK perhaps you haven't set up a new data file in Solar Accounts? In that
case here's how to restore your backup:
Copy the backup file from your memory stick to your Documents folder
Rename the file to remove the word 'backup'
Double-click on the file to open it in Solar Accounts
Does that work for you?
Thanks Mark, you've been very kind. That worked, thanks again
