When I tried to open my income tax account, I got an error message reading:
'Unable to write to disk. Please check the drive is not full or read only. To safeguard your file you must restart Solar Accounts before making further changes.'
The account has now vanished from my list, although the error message can still be accessed via 'Open a different account'. Fortunately, I have the information backed up on a memory stick, but still need access to the file on my MacBook. Do you have any advice, please? Thanks.
Hi Christine,
Unfortunately it sounds like your Solar Accounts business data file has
become corrupted. Was there data on that file which is not on your backup
file?
Hi Mark.
Thanks for the quick reply.
No, I think everything that matters is backed up. Since I’ve not been working because of Covid, there hasn’t been much Solar activity!
Can you suggest how I can get the information back on my MacBook in an accessible format?
I have several other files which have the same problem. One, however, tells me it was created using an older version of Solar Accounts and needs to be updated before it can be opened.
I have a Mac running MacOS Sierra version 10.12.6 if that helps at all …
Thanks in advance for your help.
Christine
Hi Christine,
To restore the backup, copy it to the Documents folder on your computer and
remove the word 'backup' from the file name. Then double-click on the file
to open it.
Regarding the message that says your versino of Solar Accounts needs to be
upgraded, you can find the latest offline version of Solar Accounts here:

Hi Mark.
Thanks very much for the information. I’ll try that when I get home a bit later.
Fingers crossed!
Best wishes,
Christine
