hi how do i start a new biz set up with an existing balance on my statement ie there is already some money in that account from the previous year, thanks

When you set up a business with existing assets like a bank account, go to
the Accounts list and double-click on the account name like 'Cheque
Account' (or create a new account) and then set the Opening Balance to be
the balance of that account at the date from which you want to keep track
of the financial details in Solar Accounts.
