Mark, I missed reconciling the bank account last year and need to cut out a year of bank reconciliation, so I can do this latest year's accounts. Normally I leave all previous years live for reconciliation, but am I doing something wrong as it becomes impossible to print out a reconciliation report anyway?
Can you suggest the best way of dealing with this situation, please?
Thanks, Dave
Hello David,
I'm looking into this issue and will get back to you tomorrow.
Hi David,
Sorry for the late reply. If you want to skip a year of bank
reconciliations, here's how to update the Bank Balance figure in the Bank
Reconciliation window at the current date: Note the current discrepancy
between the current Bank Balance figure and the balance on your bank
statement. Then create a General Transaction from Balancing Account to the
Cheque Account for that amount. Then create another General Transaction
for that amount in the opposite direction. These two transactions cancel
each other out so they have no net effect on your accounts. However, in
the Bank Reconciliation window you can tick one of these transactions and
leave the other one unticked - that will update the Bank Balance figure
without affecting the underlying accounts.
That will allow you to continue the reconciliation process from the current
date. However, it will still leave a gap in the Bank Reconciliation list.
If you want to print the list without the gap, the only suggestion I have
it to use the print dialog to avoid printing the first few pages.
