Retaining Records After Business Closure

Hello Mark
Having been a regular user of your offline package for 6 or 7 years, I now have reached the point where I have closed my business in the 18/19 year, but wish to retain the records for tax purposes. Clearly there is no point in subscribing to the subscription model, but I would like to retain the records in a useable form.
As a mac user I see that I am due to update the OS, am currently on 10.14.6, but it flags that there will be a problem.
Can you advise how best to retain the records, given that I would like to update my operating system before long.

The package and your support has been excellent by the way.

Best wishes
Bill

Hi Bill,

Unfortunately version 10.15 of MacOS cannot run 32-bit software, so you
will not be able to run the offline version of Solar Accounts if you
upgrade your operating system. Therefore you have two options:

  1. Continue with your existing operating system version without upgrading

  2. Switch to the online version of Solar Accounts as described here
    <https://www.solaraccounts.co.uk/upgrade>, then upgrade your operating
    system

Thanks Mark

I feared that might be the case. As a workaround I have another mac running a compatible earlier OS which I don’t propose to upgrade to Catalina. Can I move all of the Solar app which I purchased and my associated data to that, in which case i can keep the files on there.

If so, how to I move all the files to the second mac, so that I can upgrade the first, whilst retaining my historic data for HMRC if needed?

Thanks for the prompt response as always, by the way.

Best wishes
Bill

Hi Bill,

You can copy the .slr file from the Documents folder on Mac Computer A to
the Documents folder on Mac Computer B. Then install the offline version
<https://www.solaraccounts.co.uk/download> of Solar Accounts on Computer
B. Then use Finder to navigate to your Documents folder and double-click
on the file to open it in Solar Accounts

Thanks Mark, I’ll have a go.

I shall be signing off when sorted, but you and Solar have been great so if I can write a review or publishable comment let me know, and I will.

Best wishes
Bill
