Is it possible to remove entries that appear in the 'smart drop-lists', or alternatively disable the auto-completion of invoice lines?

Sorry no, you cannot delete from the Description drop-list. A few users have requested this feature, so it may be something we add in future - I'll record your email to be notified in case this happens.
