13 month year

Hi, I have recently taken over a family business and the accountants have advised that I keep the financial year end the same as my fathers. This means my first year trading will be 13 months. How can I set this up in Solar?

Hello Alison,

The end of financial year in Solar Accounts has no effect except when viewing reports. Therefore, when you set up your data file set the start date to be the beginning of your first financial year. When you view a report such as Profit and Loss, click the 'Configure' button and set the period to be the full 13 months (not 12).

When you have entered all your transactions for the first financial year, click menu Setup > Financial Year > Start a new financial year, then enter a new start date that is 13 months from the previous start date.

Regards,
