Hi Mark, I have entered the value of my vehicle (£7,250) and my opening bank balance
(£397.49). The balancing account is showing a total of £7,647.49p which equals the total of the 2 assets.

I understand that the balancing account should show a zero balance so what is the best way to achieve that?

Could you please explain what the purpose of reconciling an account is (in this case my cheque account) Is it purely for display purposes or does going through the reconciling process change any figures in Solar Accounts itself?

Hi Bryan,

The simplest solution is to set the opening balance of one of the other Equity accounts (eg. 'Owners Capital') to £7,647.49

Bank reconciliation is done to ensure that your bank statement transactions are the same as the bank transactions in Solar Accounts. If you are missing transactions then of course you will need to update the figures in Solar Accounts.
