Problem emailing pdf.

Hi

We are experiencing a minor problem when emailing pdf invoices, etc.

Most customers can open the pdf with no problems. However, a small number advise that the attachment comes through as a .dat file that they are unable to open. I assume this must be an issue their end but am at a loss to advise them what it is and how to correct it.

Anyone else had this issue and solved it.

Thanks in advance

Hi Dave,

This seems to be a problem with some versions of Microsoft Outlook. See these pages details on how to fix the problem:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/outlook-help/recipients-receive-a-winmail-dat-attachment-HA010153018.aspx

Cheers,

I am having this problem with some customers. I have tried the first solution in the previous answer but it doesn't work. The second doesn't seem to make sense in Outlook 2013 (right-click doesn't show Properties).

I've tried sending as plain text but that doesn't work. I have Outlook 2013.

The only way I can get it to work is to export the invoice to PDF then create a new email in Outlook (independently of Solar Accounts) then attach the PDF file, then send it.

This then gets through okay, so I do think there is something about the way Solar Accounts creates emails that is causing this problem.

Hi Peter,

I will note your problem as a bug in Solar Accounts, but unfortunately I cannot suggest a solution. You will need to continue to export the invoice to a PDF file then manually attach it to a new email message in Outlook. Sorry.
