I have been using Solar Accounts for a number of years and find it very useful. I am now setting up a new Limited Company and want to use the same chart of accounts as for my existing partnership.

How do I copy or import that chart of accounts into the new accounts file? I do not want to have to manually set this up a) due to the time involved and b) discrepancies that could be introduced due to human error.

Sorry, no, you will have to re-enter data for the new company.

This is a reply to a similar query a couple of years ago:

You can use the CSV import/export feature to transfer data between files. Here's what you need to do:

1. Open the old file and click menu File > Export To > Comma Separated CSV File
   2. Tick the types of data you want to copy and click 'Export' and save the CSV file
   3. Edit the CSV file to delete any transactions or customers/suppliers you don't want to transfer
   4. Open the new file and click menu File > Import From > Comma Separated CSV File
   5. Click Browse then select the CSV file, then click 'Import' and check there are no errors
