Does Solar Accounts on line have a differing feature set from off line? According to this website there has been no developments to Solar since October 2014 which given the high price for On line seems surprising. I am trying to decide if I should switch to the on line version or start using an alternative product.

Yes, the online version has a number of new features not available in the offline version (sorry we haven't updated the 'New Features' page on our website). For more details about these new features and other benefits of switching online, see this page:

If you decide that the online version is not for you just now, I recommend using your existing offline version of Solar Accounts for another year - at that point we will have added more features to the online version so you may find it good value.
