Changing financial year - means that this current financial year will be short

Hey!

I have used Solar for a few years now and I'm familiar with changing Financial Year. However, I have something that I've no idea how to implement.

We have a company, and right now the financial year is 01/09 to 31/08. So the current financial year I'm in is 01/09/16 to 31/08/17.

However, we want to change the financial year to the more standard 01/04 to 31/03. And so therefore I need this current financial to be:

01/09/2016 to 31/03/2017

Is there a way of implementing this in Solar? My hunch is that we get to 01/04/17 and then I go to 'Setup > Financial Year > Start a new financial year' and just carry on. Is this correct?

Many thanks for your help.

Ben

Hi Ben,

In Solar Accounts the 'financial year' is always 12 months long. However, this only has an effect when you set the report period to 'Current Financial Year'. So when you view say the Profit and Loss report, set the report period to 'Custom' and enter the appropriate date range.

When you come to start a new financial year, set the new start date to 1/4/17 (ie. your hunch is correct!)

Regards,
