I am having a little difficulty going back over the last couple of years accounts for one of my clients. I noticed when I downloaded the trial balance for year ending 2017, the retained earnings figure is the same as that of 2016. When I try and run a trial balance for 2016 it only shows the assets/equity accounts and nothing of the profit and loss accounts. I have double checked I have entered the correct dates and can see year end adjustments made for the same dates I am searching for but can not seem to find a way to view the trial balance with the figures I would like to look at. Could you help point me in the right direction?

Hi Melanie,
When you start a new financial year, Solar Accounts creates an end-of-year transaction that resets the balance of the income and expense accounts to zero. If you want to see the income and expense for a particular year, view the Profit and Loss report.
