Credit Note for Factoring Company Anomalies

Good Afternoon,

Wondering if I can ask your help with something:-

Is there any way of producing a credit note - purely for 'internal purposes' - ie won't show against the Customer or their account but can be used to send to our factoring Company in order to resolve some anomalies?

The reason there are discrepancies I believe is that, on occasions, an invoice is raised which shows on the Customer account - and then submitted to our factoring Company. However, if after the event, a query is raised by the Customer and the invoice is then edited to show the correct amount - this new amount will not be showing on our Factoring Company records - and this will show as an anomaly. Hence the reason for asking if I could raise a credit to resolve this which wouldn't show on the Solar Customers account? OR - is the only way round it to credit the original invoice in full and then raise a new invoice?

Appreciate your advice.

Many thanks.
Gaye

Hello Gaye,

Having given your question some thought, there isn't really a way to create a credit note which doesn't show on the customer's account balance. One option would be
to create the credit note and export to a PDF file, then click menu File > Undo to delete the credit note you just created. However that wouldn't show an audit trail so I'm not sure if it would be acceptable to your accountant and management. So ultimately I think the only option will be
to credit the original invoice in full and then re-issue another invoice.
