VAT-exempt purchase from Ireland

hello.
i have a supplier from Dublin that i want to add to my list of suppliers. Because they are from Southern Ireland they have a VAT number which means the goods i purchase are VAT exempt.
Can you let me know how i add there Irish VAT number to make them a VAT exempt supplier ??

when i do this for a customer i just simply add there Irish VAT number but there doesnt seem to be a box for VAT when adding a supplier ??
please advise.
regards Mark

Hi Mark,

You don't need to record the supplier's VAT number in Solar Accounts. Instead, set the VAT Treatment to 'Purchase of Goods from EU Supplier' in the transaction window. The purchase will be zero-rated and will affect the appropriate boxes on your VAT return (Boxes 2, 4, 7 and 9).

Cheers,

Yes, you are getting confused.
Its the supplier that needs to track the VAT number.
In this case your supplier would need to verify your VAT number and retain it.
The VAT number can be checked against the EU vat registration site.

Hope this helps.
