Sorting customers by surname

I am trying out the software via the trial version and have a couple of questions.

My customers are mostly people, not businesses - how can I order them correctly by surname? There only seems to be a name field.

Also, is there any way of keeping more detailed information about customers, such as a history of work done, or is this just by checking the invoices?

Thanks

Hi Angela,

One way to show customers by surname would be to enter only the surname in the 'Contact' field - you can then click on the Contact table heading in the Customers list to sort by that field.

If you need to keep extra information about a customer, use the Notes field in the Customer window.

Regards,

Angela - I have the same issue - so I enter the customer's name in the 'Name' field in the following format SURNAME, Firstname.

I don't use the Invoicing feature, so the customers are not aware of this format. It makes it so much easier when I want to view Outstanding Balances by Customer.
