Different PC's using the same software

Hi,

I am a bookkeeper and have a client who wants to enter all his invoices etc on solar accounts. Is it possible for him to do this and for me to also access the account to do the more in depth things from a completely seperate PC.

Hi Lee,

You have two options here:

  1. Send the client his data file (eg. by email) which he can then edit and send back to you
    2. Let the client input invoice into a 'dummy' file. He can then export the invoices in CSV format which you can import into your data file.

Hi Lee

You might try storing the data on https://www.dropbox.com/ which gives you 2gb free on their remote servers. It automatically syncs with a dropbox file on each local computer using the same dropbox folder thus saving the hassle of regular backups.

I hope this helps.

Lee and Neville,

Dropbox can cause problems if you try to access the data file from different computers. See this page for more info:

Just to add to the Dropbox options, I would suggest both bookkeeper and client sign up with different Dropbox accounts and share out a folder.

For example, bookkeeper creates the file (Client1.slr) and stores in a folder called Client1 - they then share this folder out to the client.

This would allow the bookkeeper to run multiple clients and have access to each one. You would need to ensure that both are not using at the same time as previously stated.
