I've been playing aroung with the programme. At the year end I want to close everything and start afresh for 2011 with nil balances on everything. Do I just need to delete everything I did for this month. Also can I make a new account under assets to show my stock values at the start of the new year. I am based in Europe and therefore do not pay VAT

You can 'start over' by clicking menu File > New > Business File.

You can also create a new asset account by clicking menu File > New > Account. See this page for a discussion of tracking stock levels:

I am have a similar question in that I want to duplicate my existing business file but start from scratch. If I set up as a NEW business file I will need to set up all of my account names, invoice templates and business information again.

Is there an easy way to do this without having to fully start from scratch?

Sorry no, there is no simple way start over but keep settings from your old file. You will need to re-enter the contact details, account names and invoice templates.
