Dividend

Hi, first can i just say as an ex Sage and ex Quickbooks user over the past 15 years - Solar Accounts is like a breath of fresh air - well done keep it up!

Anyway my question is as follows - I wish to "vote" a dividend and I have read on these pages how to make a general transaction from Cheque acc to retained earnings. However as I don't want to actually draw the money yet, reducing the cheque account balance would surely create a problem with my bank rec? It would be my preference to place the money in directors loan for future drawings but I am not clear on what account to take if from.

Hope this gibberish makes sense and you are able to help.

Many thanks

Hi Andrew,

It's great to hear you like our software over Sage and Quickbooks!

For other users reading this forum message, our help topic on dividends is here:

To record a dividend that is issued to a director but not yet paid, set the From Account to 'Directors Loan Account' instead of 'Cheque Account'. Later when you actually pay the director create another General Transaction from the 'Cheque Account' to the 'Directors Loan Account'
