How do you show reverse vat applied on invoice, when its 20% as it cant show 0 % according to HMRC ?
Hi Tracy,
Here is our help topic on how to apply the domestic reverse charge rules to
invoices:
https://www.solaraccounts.co.uk/help/how-to-apply-domestic-reverse-charge-vat
To avoid showing VAT of "0%" we recommend removing the VAT column as
described here:
https://www.solaraccounts.co.uk/help/how-to-remove-vat-details-from-invoices
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for this,
Are you going to be updating the software to make this simpler, as other
accounting programs apparently are ?.
If we were to do it as per your instructions, we would need to alter the
invoices each time, as not all all our customers are VAT registered.
Is there a simpler solution?
We have been using Solar for 10 years now, and it would be a right pain,
if we had to move to another accounting software.
Best wishes
Tracy
Hi Tracy,
Yes I agree that it is not the simplest solution to the domestic reverse
charge, so I can understand why you would like to see us provide a better
solution. Normally we don't make promises about future development of
Solar Accounts, but I will discuss the issue with my colleagues to see if I
can give you more information about our future plans. I'll get back to you
by Tuesday.
Hi Tracy,
Just a quick note to tell you that the next version of Solar Accounts
Online will automatically adjust the invoice template for domestic reverse
charge sales invoice - this means that Step 3 of the help topic will become
unnecessary
https://www.solaraccounts.co.uk/help/how-to-apply-domestic-reverse-charge-vat
The new version should be available sometime this month - I'll email you
when it is released.
Hi Tracy,
Just to let you know that the latest version of Solar Accounts makes it
much easier to apply the reverse charge: In the invoice window click More
Options > VAT Treatment > Domestic Reverse Charge Applies. Solar Accounts
will then show the VAT amount to be paid by the customer to HMRC in the
[Free Text] field.
